Anime dolls are becoming very popular within the doll community. It is even bringing people in who don’t even know what BJDs are. Check out these cool anime sculpts and collabs. Don't forget to check out our BJD featured shop for the week!

Different companies…different anime dolls

Back when I first joined the hobby, the only anime type dolls were either collab dolls VOLKS released or Pullip dolls that did collabs. Nowadays a lot of doll companies are doing their own anime dolls that are not even based off any anime or cartoon. It is refreshing to see doll companies dip their feet into another doll style for doll collectors to enjoy. Here are some companies that have very cute and unique anime dolls.

Aimerai’s Zayn

Aimerai

Aimeria has been making a series of dolls called the “Manga Series”. There you can see a whole bunch of different anime style/manga style looking dolls. They offer many different eye shapes and mouths too. Their newest doll Zayn even has a little tongue sticking out. The dolls are 40cm which is a perfect size for display or carrying around.

DollZone’s Happy

DollZone

Dollzone is well known for having very unique dolls and super interesting sculpts. Recently they released Happy! She is a 26cm doll and has a cute round face. She is a blend of fantasy and anime with cute animal ears and a tail!

Just like their company name states, a lot of their dolls are like looking at a 2D anime drawing brought to life through a doll. They do offer other realistic looking dolls too but when they first hit the scene they offered some of the first resin made anime looking dolls.

MJDs (mechanical jointed dolls) with Anime Inspiration

Want an anime style doll without having to wait for tax return money? Well MJDs might be the avenue for you. MJDs or mechanical jointed dolls are usually made of vinyl or ABS (a hard plastic). These dolls typically have hinge joints and sometimes skeletal frames on the inside. Some may just have pegs to a simple frame. Want to read more? Check out my article on ABS type dolls here.

Imomo Doll’s Apsu

Imomo Doll is quickly becoming a fan favorite for their affordability and mixing and matching capabilities. Some of their products like Apsu are just the head being sold (and for the low low price of $20 USD). They have different bodies and heads you can purchase. I personally am looking at their 1/3 boy (I have mentioned him previously but if you haven’t oogled him…please go oogle). Imomo Doll is where affordability and fun meet.

Tiny Fox’s Xue Li

Tiny Fox not only offers very cute dolls, they offer complete dolls in their price. Doll like Xue Li will come with their outfit, wig, eyes, and shoes included into the price ($200.00USD). They are incredibly cute standing at 41cm. Currently Tiny Fox has several anime style dolls to choose from!

Anime Eyes! The need~

Fallen in love with an anime doll? Well it looks like you will need some anime eyes. Anime eyes differ than normal eyes for dolls. Usually anime eyes have an iris that is more rectangular in shape. Standard doll eyes are like human eyes with a round iris.
