The Boujee BJD Life

(High Dollar BJDs)

Gotta love the BJD Life!

One of the things that deter people away from joining this hobby is the price. Finances are different for everyone and this hobby is not cheap by any means. Luckily there is a wide range of prices when it comes to BJD shopping. This week however-we are looking at the high dollar end. Let’s check out some expensive BJDs!

What we will show you this week...

BJD Pricing Guide

BJDs come in a wide range of prices. Generally for the more common dolls and standard companies the prices can range like this. Also-keep in mind that BJD prices vary depending on availability(limited edition), skin tone color, and size of doll.

1/6 Size dolls: Prices Range $130-$300

1/4 Size dolls: Prices Range $150-$400

1/3 Size dolls: Prices Range $300-$500

I guarantee you can find some dolls that are in these size categories that don’t fall in the price range above. Again, companies vary and therefore their prices vary too. This is a positive in this hobby because it gives doll collectors a variety of options.

BJDs on Layaway?

Even if BJD buying is a bit of a stretch financially for people, the great thing is that most of the distributors and companies offer layaway too! You can literally pay the dolly off in increments over time and not have to pay the full price up front.

Here are some places that do layaway:

A lot of companies are now offering this option. Check out their payment option section to see if the company you are looking at offers layaway.

Boujee Dolls

There are some companies that are known for being more on the pricey side. This doesn’t mean that they are better than other dolls or that they are the best overall. I think when you go doll shopping you really should go with what makes you happy-whether it is expensive or more economically priced.

Soom Dolls

A company that is well known for making limited edition dolls is Soom. They are also popular for their fantasy blended dolls. This particular doll is no longer being sold but it was priced at $855. I think when you see the rest of the doll you will see maybe why the priced it that way. The detail and amount of fantasy parts that were made for this doll will floor you.

CP/Fairy Land

Another oldie but goodie is Fairy Land. They are popular for their magnetic parts and poseable bodies. Fairy Land also is dipping back into 65 cm dolls and currently on the site has a pricey full set doll at $1.1k.

I tried clicking into the link to see more info but it required a password to go further. I am not too familiar with Fairy Land so I am not sure if this was a glitch or a security measure on FL’s part. You can check her out for yourself on their site.

VOLKS

It makes me smile every time VOLKS is mentioned or someone brings VOLKS to a doll meet. This was the very first company that I researched when I started my journey into ball jointed dolls. It was also my first glimpse at how expensive this hobby could get. However, VOLKS does offer a variety of dolls at different prices so don’t get too scared. Once again though, if you look at their collaboration dolls or limited edition dolls you better be prepared to pay a hefty price.

This Fate Grand Order doll is actually currently being sold on the site for a bit more than 1K. The amazing thing about this company is that their older sculpts can also fetch hefty prices in the second hand market. VOLKS definitely is a boujee company in most people’s eyes.

Dollmore

This next doll is a high price because of the sheer size of the doll. You have to imagine how much resin and elastic is holding this doll together.

The Dollmore Trinity doll comes in at a bit more than $2k. She can stand proudly at 105cm! This is larger than the standard 1/3 scale size for BJDs. Be prepared with your wallet and muscles for this doll.

Luts

Speaking of huge dolls with huge prices-Luts also has their own gigantic and pricey doll. Also standing at 105cm their Royal Senior Delf is priced at $1.9K!

This seems like a lot of money but can you imagine this hunk of a chunk of resin sitting on a shelf (probably more like a chair due to his size) just for your eye enjoyment?

Bonus Boujee: Popovy Dolls

These dolls are super rare to find as you have to be put on an expensive and long waiting list to get one. It was very hard to track down the starting price but they can sell on second hand marked for up to 2k.

The problem with them nowadays is that there are so many recasts of these dolls. If you see one being sold for less than 2k-then there is a high probability that it is a recast.

Are you going to join the boujee doll life?

Is there another boujee doll I didn’t mention today? Tell me about it on my Facebook Page! I would love to continue the discussion there and see what you all have seen!
